~~HEllo fall~~
The beautiful time of year where the leaves change, the temperatures cool down….and the Pond goes into drawdown.
Goose Pond will begin its annual drawdown by October 15th.
It is advised that boats, docks or any other water-dependant uses be removed from the pond. The District is not responsible for damage to these items shall they remain in the pond.
suds in the pond?
Have you noticed what appears to be soap suds along the shoreline this fall, or in previous falls? (Photo Below)
We reached out to WRS and they stated the following:
The answer is no, it is a natural product of decaying vegetation, mainly leaves. Wave action can whip those compounds into a froth that then blows to the shore. It is not hazardous and not an indicator of poor water quality. It is most common at this time of year but can be seen almost anytime. It is more prevalent in acidic environments, which Goose Pond is not, but then the pictures did not show what I would call a lot of foam.
If anyone has photos of Goose Pond they would like included on the website, or in the newsletter, please forward them along to the District!! We would love to see the beauty of the pond through your camera!!
